Born in 1991 in Constanta Romania, Simona Halep, is the second child of Stere and Tania Halep. Her elder brother, Nicolae is five and a half years older. Based on his own financial experience while growing up, Simona’s father decided to support his childrens’ athletic ventures.
At a young age of four, Simona took an interest in Tennis after watching her brother’s training sessions. She would practice twice a week. At the age of sixteen Halep moved away from her family to train in Bucharest.
