John Isner Racquet Customization

There’s no reliable source on the net that tells exactly how John Isner has customized his racquet. But, it is very obvious that he have added a few extra weight to his Textreme Warrior 100. Not only that, but it looks as if he had extended the frame to 27.5. We are not sure about any of this since it can be rumors that people spread around in the tennis world. Also there is no official source of information anywhere that explains exactly what Isner have done to his racquet.

But before we get into the detailed review of John Isner’s tennis racquet, let us see how you can choose a tennis racquet that is just perfect for you.

How to choose a tennis racquet?

Choose a tennis racquet based on the following criteria

  • Based on head size: The tennis racquet head size refers to the size of the actual hitting area within the tennis racquet frame. The larger the head size of a racquet, the more power the racquet can generate.
  • Based on weight: The weight of the racquet is another factor that is very important while purchasing a new racket. Tennis racquets come in a large range of different weights from 225g to 340g.
  • Based on racquet balance: A Racquet balance is the weight distribution along the length of the racquet. There are three types of balance distributions used in tennis racquets:
  1. Head heavy racquet
  2. Head light racquet
  3. Even balance racquet
  • Based on racquet length: The longer the length of the racquet, the greater the leverage on a swing, therefore giving more power to a shot.

You can also determine the type of tennis racquet you need based on where you are in your tennis journey.

  1. Beginner tennis player– If you are a beginner tennis player, always start with a light racquet that has a large head or an oversized racquet. This will help you make contact with the ball without wearing out your arm, elbow or wrist muscles.
  2. Intermediate tennis player– If you are an intermediate tennis player, you can choose a slightly smaller head and a racquet that has a bit of weight thus providing better control too.
  3. Advanced tennis player– If you are an advanced tennis player, use a mid size head and a heavyweight frame racquet that will allow you to play with control, feel and precision.

John Isner’s Racquet Review

Despite this racquet being his, it is well known to be a beast on the market base on its features and performance. Also, this racquet is the perfect fit for big group of players from intermediate through to advanced players. It comes with a 300g weight unstrung, which is very manageable in terms of weight wise, and it has all the necessary features that we look for in a modern tennis racket. Maneuverability and spin is two of the key factors in today’s game and John Isner is currently using the Prince Textreme Warrior 100 to achieve all that against his opponents.

Groundstrokes

Weight is a very important factor and I’m happy to say that the weight of the Textreme Warrior 100 is very manageable and the racquet swings really good as well. We also appreciate the the fact that it gives you an easy access to spin. The upgrade of the Textreme material is pretty awesome making the racket feel much crisper, and it comes together nicely on the groundstrokes.

This racket comes equipped with a lot of power and with little amount of effort, you will be able to land all your shots very deep in the court. Apart from that, the response is also super great from the baseline. The racquet is capable of dominating the ball very smoothly, while it still have enough stability to not get pushed around. As you can see it is an extremely comfortable racquet from the baseline.

Base on experience the response of this racquet felt amazing from the baseline. I found easy power and spin. Not only that but it really fast, yet still have the right amount of stability to not get pushed around. I was quite impressed by the feel. The racquet comfort is on another level and I was surprised at how comfortable it felt even with strung with a poly.

Volleys

This is very similar to other spin-friendly racquet from the back, which means the volley isn’t performing well. It feels a bit loose at the net, but that is something that a beginner won’t necessarily notice. If you’re just starting out or an experience player, this racquet will feel just like any other racquet at the net. But for the more advanced players, it may feel a little bit too loose and you won’t feel as comfortable at the net as you should be.

Even though the modern game of tennis doesn’t require us to be at the net a lot and when we are, it is usually to finish off our opponent. Which I can guarantee that the Prince Textreme Warrior 100 will do for you.

However, if you are planning on playing doubles with this racquet. I strongly don’t recommend doing so, I think it would be best if you go with another racquet. Since, there are quite a lot of quick exchanges in doubles and this racquet isn’t suitable for that type of gameplay.

Serve

One of the worst thing you can do is serve with something that is hard to get moving. However, you won’t experience any of that with this high end racquet. The Textreme Warrior 100 is known to be a very speedy racquet when it comes to serve. If you keep in mind the weight of the racquet, with the amount of power it is capable of achieving, you’ll noticed that there isn’t many racquets that can compete with the Textreme Warrior 100.

As you improve over time and become more confident with this racquet, I would highly recommend adding a few more weight to this racquet, so that you are able to access even more power, like John Isner did to his racquet.

Overall

Base on my personal experience and reviews online, I can now see why John Isner choose to play with the Textreme Warrior 100. The amount of power you’re able to achieve with this powerhouse is unbelievable which perfectly fit Isner playing style, since most of his games surround how much power he serves with it. The only drawback you’ll realize is that it is not the most comfortable racquet at the net, but since John Isner rarely goes for the net, it still makes sense why he use this beast.

As mentioned earlier, the racquet is extremely easy to play with and it feels like a beginner racquet, but since we all know that players like John Isner uses it, we can happily say that this is a racquet for all players.

Can You Buy John Isner’s Racquet?

Yes you can purchase the Prince Textreme Warrior 100 racquet since it is available for sale in all tennis stores. It’s considered to be one of the most popular racquet on the market, so you would be more likely to find this racquet in your local store, if not then you can check Amazon.com.

You should keep in mind that this racquet may not provide with the same results as it does for John Isner. What most pros does is choose a racquet that they like and customize it to suit their play-style perfectly. It is sad to say that no one knows the exact customization John Isner have on his racquet, except himself and his team. But, regardless of the customization of the racquet, it will perform somewhat similar and it will look exactly the same as his racquet.

Conclusion

John Isner is a wonderful player in the tennis world and he definitely need a racquet that give him the opportunity to achieve his tremendous serve, and the Textreme Warrior 100 does the job extremely well for him. I can see why he choose to use this racquet, it suits players like him really well that doesn’t play to win points from the back and who rarely goes for the net.

John Isner have been using the Textreme Warrior 100 for a very long time now and it surely doesn’t seem like he is planning on changing his setup anytime soon.
