How to choose a tennis racquet?

Choose a tennis racquet based on the following criteria

  • Based on head size: The tennis racquet head size refers to the size of the actual hitting area within the tennis racquet frame. The larger the head size of a racquet, the more power the racquet can generate.
  • Based on weight: The weight of the racquet is another factor that is very important while purchasing a new racket. Tennis racquets come in a large range of different weights from 225g to 340g.
  • Based on racquet balance: A Racquet balance is the weight distribution along the length of the racquet. There are three types of balance distributions used in tennis racquets:
  1. Head heavy racquet
  2. Head light racquet
  3. Even balance racquet
  • Based on racquet length: The longer the length of the racquet, the greater the leverage on a swing, therefore giving more power to a shot.

You can also determine the type of tennis racquet you need based on where you are in your tennis journey.

  1. Beginner tennis player– If you are a beginner tennis player, always start with a light racquet that has a large head or an oversized racquet. This will help you make contact with the ball without wearing out your arm, elbow or wrist muscles.
  2. Intermediate tennis player– If you are an intermediate tennis player, you can choose a slightly smaller head and a racquet that has a bit of weight thus providing better control too.
  3. Advanced tennis player– If you are an advanced tennis player, use a mid size head and a heavyweight frame racquet that will allow you to play with control, feel and precision.

Daniil Medvedev Racquet Review

Tecnifibre is not considered to be one of the most popular brands on the market, especially not at the recreational level. However, one of the greatest tennis player in the world is currently using their racquet. So as you can see, there is something really special with the brand itself.

To be honest, before I even did the research of what racquet Medvedev used, I never heard of the Tecnifibre in my life. So, what u did was invest in the racquet to see how good it was and after weeks of using it, this is what I think about the Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC racquet.

Groundstrokes

If you’re a beginner it may take some time to get used to swing this racquet, but once you get comfortable with it, I can guarantee that you’ll absolutely love it. This is reason why the brand have established themselves on the APT tour.

Apart from feeling comfortable in your hands, the racquet is very well balanced and it certainly reminds me of the Babolat Pure Drive. It’s a forgiving racquet that doesn’t just suits ATP players, I think it also a great fit for beginners as well. The reason for this, is not just the big sweet spot that comes with it, but also the high swing weight that usually gives new players more control.

Another thing is that the racquet weighs 305g and considering that, it have an amazing swing weight of 329. A lot of people seems to be complaining about the maneuverability of the racquet. However, I didn’t experience any problems, since I’m a huge fan of the heavier swing weights. But I guess everyone has what they prefers.

Volleys

I think the volleys was alright with the Tecnifibre racquet, but it didn’t meet my expectations. I thought it would be the perfect racquet in terms of volleys, but instead when I felt like I hit a good volley, the ball went long. This was a bit annoying to be honest. It wasn’t a problem when it was time to end points, but when I actually aim at more difficult volleys it was a big problem.

As I have stated before, the Tecnifibre is very similar to the Babolat Pure Drive. The specs are extremely similar and I remembered when I actually face the exact problem with the Babolat Pure Drive. So, what I did was reduced the weight of the racquet and it immediately felt way better at volleys but still needs some improvement. I wanted to do the same thing with the Tecnifibre, which would eventually make me much more comfortable at the net with this racquet.

These days tennis are getting more advanced and net plays aren’t as relevant anymore, so you don’t have to worry about this too much. But, if you are a player that enjoys playing at the net, this racquet may not be the right choice for you (if you don’t want to customize it).

Serves

The best part about this high end racquet is the serving. It literally gave you everything that you need to serve; power, control and spin. The racquet provides me with the opportunity to achieve my flat serve at its max MPH and when I wanted to mix it up with a slider, it really gave me more than enough spin.

After constantly playing, I felt really comfortable with my serves. The control was pretty amazing in term of serves and it also gave me a lot of confidence while playing. If I would describe this beautiful racquet with just three words, it would probably be control, power and stability. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed serving with this racquet.

Can You Buy Daniil Medvedev’s Racquet?

The Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC racquet is not available everywhere like the Babolat, Head and Wilson racquets. However, you still should be able to find it in a few stores online. So, if you’re planning on investing in a Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC racquet, it’s availability won’t be a problem for you.

The price of the racquet may differ a lot depending on where you buy it from. You may find the most affordable ones on Amazon. What you can do is compare the prices and see which is the best option for you.
